It is The first-ever international standard which has been developed by ISO (www.iso.org) with a holistic approach for the education sector. ISO 21001 Certification Process

FAQs

Requirements of ISO 9001 standard are generic and can be applied to any organization, regardless of its type or size, or the products and services it provides whereas, ISO 21001 Standard is applicable to only the educational organizations that use a curriculum to support the development of competence through teaching, training or research, regardless of type, size or method of delivery.

Annexure A (normative) of the ISO 21001 standard specifies the additional requirements for early childhood education. These requirements are majorly related with: Facilities, competence, communication methods, making individual learning plans aligned with the expectations of the child and its family, reception and delivery of the child, hygiene care, care in situation of illness or accident, pedagogical-playful materials, equipment and spaces, behaviour management and prevention of child abuse and negligence etc..

The Certificate is valid for 3 years.
The time taken by an organization to achieve ISO 21001 certification would actually depend on the maturity and effectiveness of its EOMS implementation. The Stage 1 audit can be conducted immediately after the review and acceptance of application. Stage 2 audit will be planned mutually by COAE and the client depending on the nature of Stage 1 audit findings. Soon after the effective closures of the non-conformities raised by the auditors during Stage 2 audit, certification can be awarded to the educational organization.
